Power/Utility Line Clearing in Fox Point:
We Energies' contractor (Asplundh) will complete power/utility line clearing north of Bradley Road in early December 2021. Power/utility line clearing between Green Tree Road and Bradley Road, and between I-43 and Lake Michigan will begin once the area north of Bradley Road is complete. Residents should be receiving letters informing them of the work and that residents will be responsible for removal of any material not removed by Asplundh (e.g., brush left beneath the lines).
DPW crews are working with We Energies to ensure that the materials are properly managed and have agreed to pick up any brush material that is brought to the road. Please note that DPW crews will NOT go into back or side yards to collect the material. Questions regarding the project can be directed to DPW Superintendent Mike Krueger (mkreuger@villageoffoxpoint.com) or DPW Director Scott Brandmeier (sbrandmeier@villageoffoxpoint.com). Please note that any ash, elm or other diseased wood placed out for collection is limited to that related to the line clearing operations and must be less than 6-inches in diameter. Additionally, all brush should be placed roadside separate from any leaf piles that will be placed out for collection.
The scope of work for Asplundh is to simply perform line clearing; that is, they will mainly be removing portions of the canopy within approximately 10 feet of the power lines. In some cases, such as in the case of an already dead ash, they will likely remove the upper portion of the tree to below the power line. Removal of the remainder of the tree is the property owner’s responsibility.
