Skating Rink

The weather conditions need to be optimal - typically temperatures during the day that do not rise above freezing (ideally in the mid 20's) and overnight temperatures that drop into the teens and single digits. The recent warm weather impacts our ability to make ice as there is little frost in the ground (which is also needed to contain the water when the rink is flooded) and, even with optimal weather, the water takes about a week to freeze to an appropriate thickness (minimum needed is 6-inches of ice). As the current forecast shows temperatures at or above freezing for the next 8-10 days and in the mid 20's overnight, there are no plans to flood the rink at this time.
